Ohio Technical Services completed asbestos abatement and lead abatement activities at the historical Fort Hayes complex for Columbus Public Schools. Fort Hayes, once a major military installation that has been around since the Civil War, consists of more than a dozen buildings. Asbestos abatement activities included the removal of pipe insulation, floor tile, and miscellaneous asbestos contaminated materials. Lead abatement activities included the abatement and encapsulation of windows, stairwells, and handrails. Due to the sensitivity and historical value of the complex, OTS took great care in ensuring that the work completed did not have any potential to negatively impact the complex or its history.
